Minister Kirişci said, "Our number one issue and responsibility is to ensure availability. We will do this by producing."
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Prof. Dr. Vahit Kirişci attended the "Best of Greens Award Ceremony" held annually by the General Directorate of Forestry (OGM) to reward those who contribute to the development of forestry.
In his speech here, Minister Kirişci said that after the recent developments in the world, food safety came to the fore, and the Covid-19 epidemic once again showed the importance of food and production.
Kirişci pointed out that the Russia-Ukraine War also increased commodity prices.
"OUR PRIORITY IS INCREASING PRODUCTION"
Stating that Turkey's legal legislation in the field of agriculture has been completed, Minister Kirişci added:
"From now on, the point we will focus on more meticulously will be to increase the production in this area in all respects, starting from the strategic point of agriculture and forest. Our number one issue and responsibility is to ensure availability. We will achieve this by producing. We may want Turkey to produce everything, but unfortunately agricultural lands are limited. Therefore, we may have deficiencies in producing every product we want with today's opportunities to meet all of our needs. With our R&D studies, we will strive to increase our agricultural production, which forms the basis of our food; with new varieties, with high yield and quality."
Pointing out that agriculture and industry are areas that work together, Kirişci said that there is a need for industry to make agricultural products consumable.
"WE WILL EQUIP OUR FOREST ORGANIZATION WITH NEW TECHNOLOGIES"
Kirişci stated that foresters were long-suffering officers and that was once again understood in forest fires of recent years.
Kirişci stated that the weather conditions had a great impact on forest fires and said, "Our forestry organization currently has very special technologies, but we will equip them with new technologies. We need to make some implementations that will prevent forest fires. I know that Turkey is the 1st country in Europe and 6th in the World that can increase forest areas."
Minister Kirişci also expressed his gratitude to those in the category of "BEST".
After the speeches, the awards were presented to their owners.
