a) To determine the principles and targets, and to carry out studies in order to determine policies and strategies related to the management of sensitive areas,
b) To identify eutrophic and potentially eutrophic water bodies, urban sensitive areas and nitrate-sensitive areas, to determine water quality targets, to determine the necessary measures to be taken for the protection and improvement of these areas, and to follow up the practices,
c) To ensure coordination and to carry out joint studies between institutions and organizations related to sensitive areas,
d) Evaluating the effect of all activities on water quality that including planned or carried out aquaculture to be carried out in sensitive areas, giving an opinion,
e) To carry out studies to determine the pollutant assimilation capacities in sensitive areas and dam lakes,
f) To follow up and report national and international studies on the matters falling within the scope of the Working Group, to prepare legislation, to prepare or have guide documents prepared on needed issues, to carry out or have educational studies,
g) To perform other duties assigned by the Head of Department.
