Hazelnut, cherry, fig and apricot produced by Turkey spread to the world with their tastes and qualities.
Turkey has a leading position for hazelnut, cherry, fig and apricot production and exports in the world. 67 percent of the hazelnut production, 26 percent of the cherry production, 27 percent of fig and 23 percent of apricot production in the world are just produced by Turkey and it ranks first in world production of these products.
2.17 BILLION DOLLAR EXPORT REVENUE FROM HAZELNUT, CHERRY, FIG AND APRICOT
In Turkey, though it has changed over the years, an annual average of 500 thousand to 750 thousand tones hazelnut is produced. This figure corresponds to 67 percent of world hazelnut production. Turkey exported $ 1.4 billion of hazelnuts and hazelnuts products between September 2018 and May 2019.
Again, Turkey met 27 percent of world fig production in the last year which corresponds to 306 thousand tons and it has obtained 286 million dollars from dried and fresh fig production.
Turkey performed 26 percent of the world cherry production which corresponds to 627 thousand tons and it exported cherry which corresponds to a total amount of 162 million dollars. Apricot production of Turkey ranges from 750 thousand dollars and 985 thousand dollars and 294 million dollars Revenue was obtained from apricot exports made by Turkey.
Thus, in 2018, only 2.17 billion dollars Revenue was provided from just the export of hazelnut, cherry, fig and apricot.
WE ARE AMONG THE TOP FOUR FOR 20 AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS IN THE WORLD
Turkey ranks the first place in the world production of hazelnuts, cherries, figs and apricots and ranks second place in quince, poppy seeds, melon and watermelon second and ranks third place in lentils, pistachios, chestnuts, sour cherries and cucumbers and ranks fourth place in walnuts, olives, apples, tomatoes, eggplant, spinach and pepper.

"Turkey is one of Europe's and the world's leading country in terms of agricultural production. Our agricultural national Revenue has gone up from to 37 billion Turkish Liras to 213.4 billion Turkish Liras over the last 16 years."
In this period; fruit production increased from 13.3 million tons to 22.3 million tons, vegetable production increased from 25.8 million tons to 30 million tons, field crops increased from 58 million tons to 64.4 million tons. Our total crop production increased from 98 million tons to 117 million tons.
This increase in production has a positive effect on our exports. Our export of agricultural products increased from USD 3.7 billion in 2002 to USD 17.7 billion in 2018.
Our country is the world leader in the production and export of hazelnut, cherry, fig and apricot. We obtained total export revenue of $ 2.17 billion from these products alone.
In 20 products, we are among the top four in the world. "
